We will no longer post on this blog for the next two years. Today, the 18th of January, 2012 we were set apart as Missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We report to the MTC on the 23rd of January. We will be Serving in the France Lyon Mission and are assigned to the Marseille France area. Go to: http://eldersisterrutmanmissionblog.blogspot.com/. I am sorry for the long address. I don't know what I was thinking. Just copy and paste then save so you don't need to repeat such a long address. Or you can just click on the blog site to the left that says France Lyon Mission.

Snow Fight in Salt Lake City
After our lunch at "Bruges" (A Belge Restaurant) we went across the street to take some pictures in a scenic part. It ended up as a snow fight. Jared cast the first snow ball.

Christmas 2011 in Utah
Well it wasn't a California Christmas and we were missing a few kids, but we had a good time. I got up early to set up the ambiance of as close to a California Christmas as possible. Made the fire, well turn on the gas fire place, put on Charlie Brown's Christmas music, then text the kids to come down. Below is the outcome.

Buddy had to get in on the action. |
You have to have grown up with Jared to understand this gift. It is a horse made from a hanger. |
And then there was Jared |
Seth may appreciate this photo. This is Jared as Sheep Man. |
This is a cheese container from Meaux, France where Jared served his mission.
Jared finally got his quilt, 100% cashmere. |
Sara unsure of her opinion? |
Post time mess at the Rutman Christmas. Sort of bitter sweet. We were without three of our children and it will be the last Christmas in the U.S. for two tears. We hope all our children had a nice Christmas and look forward to a California Christmas next time. On to France now.

Thanksgiving at Disneyland
Since this was going to be our last Thanksgiving together for a while we decided to do it at Disneyland. A good time had by all. It was fun to see the young children enjoy life and the wonder of Disneyland.
We were there from 8:00 AM to 11:PM. At about 10:00 I took Seth on the Rocket Ship ride but Exhaustion overcame him and he fell asleep while we were in line. He slept through the ride, but briefly regained consciousness for the Rocket Mountain Railroad. Ada's favorite ride was the Tea Cups where she had the luck to ride in a pink then orange Tea Cup which are her favorite colors. Her comment during the ride was, "Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee". The first time Seth road the Tea Cups he was thoroughly disgusted because he got STUCK in a PINK! Tea Cup. He got redemption whent he second time her road with Grandma she mad sure they had a more manly color. Seth's favorite ride was, Buzz Light Year because he got to shoot things. His second best ride was Star Tours which he went on three time. The best ride for me was just being with my children. It is a memory I will not soon forget.

Our Mission Call
We received our call and are going to the France Lyon Mission. We report to the MTC in Provo on the 23rd of January 2012. A long time to wait, but it will give us time to improve our French speaking skills. The France Lyon Mission is a new mission. It absorbed the France Toulouse and the Switzerland Geneva Mission. Our mission borders Switzerland, Spain and Italy. Also included in our mission is the Island of Corsica. (See below for a map of our mission). We will be there for two years. More if I can swing it. Below is an Article from Church headquarter regarding the France Lyon Mission.
(France Toulouse and Switzerland Geneva Missions to consolidate into the France Lyon Mission this July
Missionaries report that the France Toulouse Mission and Switzerland Geneva Mission will combine into a single mission this July. The mission will be renamed the France Lyon Mission and administer LDS missionary work throughout southern France and Francophone Switzerland. Some areas will also reportedly be transferred over to the France Paris Mission as part of the consolidation.)

Road Trip, Septempber 2011
Jeannine and I went down to southern Utah for three days so I could take some photos. We stayed in Torrey, Utah and made that out base camp. Even though I miss California, I really love southern Utah. I could have spent a lot more time in each place. The desert is so quiet and peaceful. I will admit Goblin Valley was my favorite. Jeannine and I were there until dark and it was a very calm place with great beauty. A camera cannot capture what is really there. You have to be there to appreciate it. I took 445 photos and could not decide which to post. There are many more photos that turned out spectacular. Not because I am a great photographer, but because of the place it self. I must state here that the sun was not always my best friend. At Arches most things have an eastern exposure and need to be photographed in the morning. I was rarely in the right place at the right time. The sun owes me a rematch. Enjoy
